SARS-CoV-2 variants in Africa

Here are the definitions of the variables used in the file.

*Data as of 30 June 2022

Country: Name of country.

Variant Name: List of WHO-confirmed Variants of Concern – Alpha, Beta, Delta, Omicron, Gamma – detected by the county.

Variant: Lineage of the variant of concern detected in the country: Variant 501.Y.V1 or B.1.1.7, Variant 501.Y.V2 or B.1.351, B.1.617, P1, B.1.1.529.

Date of the report: Date the variant of concern is confirmed to have been detected in the country or date that is added to the Institute of Pathogen Genomics’s dashboard.

Source Name: The authority who announced the detection of the variant of concern, for example, the Africa CDC, the Institute of Pathogen Genomics, the Ugandan Ministry of Health.
