Kenya Demographic and Health Survey 2022 [ረቂቅ]

The Kenyan National Bureau of Statistics recently published their latest Kenya Health and Demographic Survey in January 2023. The report itself is often only published every ten years and provides a reference point for nation-wide data into health and demographics. It is a touchstone in policy making. The report itself is massive (> 100 pages), is published as a PDF and the visualisations produced by the agency are unwieldy, difficult to use and takes a very long time to load. This means that while the data is “available” in the report, its format continues to make it difficult for journalists to extract and analyse the findings on their own. Two Kenyan journalist groups (local newsroom - Talk.Africa - and Odipodev) both emphasised the value in extracting this data for broader use and analysis.
